Street Food stalls can give you an Happy tummy. Well it includes Fishballs, Squidballs, Chickenballs, Kikiam, Calamares, Kwek kwek and Cheese sticks.

Fish balls in the Philippines are sold by street vendors pushing wooden deep frying carts. The balls are friend then served skewered, and most often offered with a choice of three kinds of dipping sauces:
– Spicy (white/orange colored) – vinegar, water, diced onions and garlic
– Sweet (brown gravy colored) – corn starch, banana ketchup, sugar and salt
– Sweet/Sour (amber or deeper orange colored) – the sweet variety with lots of small hot chilis added.

Squid balls are just like fish balls, except squid meat is used instead of fish, and they are more round in shape.

Kikiam was originally taken from Chinese cuisine, and authentically consists of minced meat and vegetables. The kikiam used by street food vendors in the Philippines however, are a more scrimped version, sometimes containing fish meat instead and a lot of fillers. They are brown in color and about the size of a finger.

Calamares is a popular deep-fried street food here in the Philippines. The squid are dredge in flour then dip in beaten egg and for added crunchiness, squid is coated in breadcrumbs then deep-fried for about 1 to minutes to avoid the squid being tough.

Kwek-Kwek are brightly colored treats could be quite deceiving to the unaware foodie. They are round and a vibrant shade of orange, but they aren’t sweet, nor do they taste like the Cheetos they match in color. They are actually quail eggs, coated in an orange batter and then deep fried. Most of its goodness relies on the sauce the street food cart has to pair it with.

Cheese sticks are deep-fried snacks composed of sliced cheeses wrapped in spring roll wrapper. This is totally different from Mozzarella sticks, but both have something in common: cheese sticks and mozzarella sticks are crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. Also, both tastes delicious and makes a good appetizer.
Well next food can surely make you sweat and also consider as the Batangas Pride. This is Lomi best serve when hot….

Lomi Batangas
A Batangas version of your favorite lomi where there are no veggies or if there is any, it is only used as garnishing. This is a version lomi created for meat lovers where the most of the ingredients aside from the miki noodles are pork meat, pork liver, pork rind or chicharon, kikiam and fried pork belly for garnishing. But some of these dishes vary in their garnishing like adding squid balls or fish balls on top of the kikiam. I also notice the use of the thickening agent where some use cornstarch and others use cassava starch. But if you want your lomi to have a clear soup (of course the color would be brown because of the soy sauce), use sweet potato starch just like the one used in making maki mi.
And this is the Beef Pares.

Beef Pares meal which include a free soup and a good serving of garlic rice. The soup was good and the taste of beef pares was great.
